Wudup People! #DaRundown Sports is back with a must listen podcast this week

Joining me this week on the pod is Keith Nelson Jr. from #CulturedApproved (Our # cousin). Keith is a former writer at one of my favorite sites from early internet days, Allhiphop. I orginally called him to kick off our Hip-Hop blog premiering. Our conversation was so great it went much longer then we usually go.

So I had to bust it up in a few pieces.

So on with the sports shall we.

Keith revealed he was a bandwagon guy as a kid but has stayed a loyal St. Louis Rams fan into adulthood. He got on board during the “Greatest Show on Turf” era featuring Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk. Current day he’s out on Sam Bradford.

In light of him coming clean as lost sports soul as a child, I’m instituting a new sports rule for ratification by the fan laws.

This rule partly inspired by the movie Divergent scene when they choose factions. So for those of you who have grown up Cleveland Browns fans up until 18 could decide to root elsewhere.

The rule is as follow:

You have until the age of 18 to choose your favorite team. Once you choose you are locked in for a minimum of 10 years. If your team wins a championship you are committed to 5-10 more years depending on what year you are in .

Within first five your extended for five years. Year 6-10 you get re-upped for 10.

And of course all the outliers apply. Any controversies, legal action, local expansion, team moves to new city, etc. You can jump ship

Next we chat about Ray Rice and the NFL screwing up on….everything.

I will give my brief thoughts here.

We have a few things that are apparent that really matter. Legally Ray Rice has a chance going against the NFL. First he got suspended two games and things got complicated when TMZ dropped the bomb day after Sunday kickoff. The NFL reacted and punished him again suspending him indefinitely. Now I not Tommy Lee Jones but I know “Double Jeopardy” when I see it.

The other thing is in 2014 after wikileaks put out US government documents, the NFL is still in the cover up business. Back in the day you could just buy that analog tape and burn it. In the digital-TMZ-writing-checks-for-sensational world that doesn’t happen. Everyone with a camera phone is a reporter and people like money.

So you do the math.
