This week on the Podcast Keith Nelson Jr. comes on to break down Nas’ Hit-Boy produced “King Disease” We break down how this project came together in the first place then we give a review and determine it’s a celebration for over 30 Hip-Hop. Nas is over year removed from the flatly received Kanye West produced “Nasir“. Hooking up with Hit-Boy put Nas in a more comfortable position. We look into what the difference is in approach but why this iteration of Nas is much needed for Hip-Hop fans of a certain age. We also discuss the new Pharrel and Jay-Z song “Entrepreneur” and end up getting into Jay-Z place as an old great. This came up on an episode of BOMM Podcast as they were dismissing Jay-Z’s presence in the game. The problem is we love Hov for what he was and we have to readjust to Jay-Z’s new evolution which is now just “cool dad”. As we were wrapping Keith drops an EXCLUSIVE announcement about an upcoming piece with Ta-Nehisi Coates!!! I won’t spoil the entire surprise but if you are familiar with Cotes’ work then you know what the subject may be. The #DaRundown is excited to see what comes next!
