#DRDS Ep. 61: The Game Vs. Meek Mill, Chance The Rapper, and FX’s Atlanta

We coming for the second time this week. This time we talk more Hip-Hop with Keith Nelson Jr. of Digital Trends and Eazy’s Life from the Home Team. We get a quick recap of some NFL results that were interesting and tye a bow on the Falcons vs. Saints Monday Night Arena Game.

The Game vs. Meek Mill (14:05)

It seems like Meek Mill keeps walking into L’s. The latest coming at the hand The Game. Within a week Game dropped 92 Bars an bagged that up with Pest Control. To make it something serious the Game dedicated an entire visual experience for Pest Control.  Even with Meek Mill’s OOOUU Remix  it’s like nothing he is doing can seem to connect in anyway shape or form. As Keith said he is a “millennial gangsta rapper” and does things about the money. The battles aren’t as serious to the new generation as it is with Game’s generation. It still doesn’t excuse a Philly rapper to come up this short. I’d rather see Cassidy come back at this point.

Chance The Rapper’s Independence (32:28)

Chance The Rapper Has Control

Chance has shown that his moves are about Chance. He drops an album excursively on Apple and then follows that up with the live stream of the Magnificent Coloring Day on Tidal. Chance is doing some things that haven’t been seen on an independent level in the streaming era. With Drake getting a billion streams on Apple, we could possibly see Chance go a more profitable route at the end of the day.  It’s all about progression in the music. We compared the progressions of Drake, Jeezy, and T. I.

FX’s Atlanta (58:45)

FX’s ‘Atlanta’ is hot in these streets

When it comes to TV shows, I’m very selective. When it comes to TV shows set in Atlanta, my expectations couldn’t be in any lower. So when FX decided that they were green lighting the Donald Glover’s ‘Atlanta‘ set in the ATL, I sighed but was optimistic. I’m so glad I gave it a shot. This could be possibly the best show since Mr. Robot. We check in on the first season so far.
